General Description:

The Loan Processor is responsible for managing and facilitating the lending process within Portland Local 8 FCU. They specialize in assisting members with their loan application, completing post-funding tasks, and ensuring compliance with lending policies. The Loan Processor has additional responsibilities in assisting the Lending Specialist and Lending Manager to complete post-funding tasks, tracking insurance, and securing vehicle titles. The Loan Processor plays a crucial role in meeting lending targets, building member relationships, and ensuring a smooth application and post-funding process for credit union members and employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist members in completing loan applications, gather required documentation; finalize and fund loan applications, disburse loan proceeds.
  • Scan, upload, and complete loan package for quality review and auditing.
  • Process title applications for all secured loans, including real estate deeds.
  • Assist with reconveyance requests on real estate loans; properly sign off/release other collateralized products.
  • Track and review pending title files, follow up on member files with the department of motor vehicles.
  • Answer direct phone line to ensure timely member communications. Assist the operations team with the main line phone overflow when available.
  • Track insurance and property taxes, utilizing internal and vendor reports; follow up on lapses in coverage; assist the Lending Manager with Force Placed Insurance processing.
  • Provide excellent member service throughout the loan process; address member inquiries, concerns, and provide guidance on loan options.
  • Complete all assigned training courses, including certifications and notary application.
  • Be a team player and help others when time permits.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Work Experience and Education Requirements:

  • 1 - 3 years in financial/professional services.
  • 0 - 3 years consumer lending processing experience, preferably in credit union industry.
  • Vehicle titling is a plus.
  • B.A. or B.S. or equivalent work experience.


Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 25 pounds across office and load onto shelves for various needs.


This is a Full-time (40 hours per week), Hourly (Exempt) position.

In-person at our NW Portland branch.

Pay range: $22.00 - $32.00 per hour.
