We are seeking a technically strong Engineering Manager with expertise in Healthcare PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Management) Data to lead data-driven projects, architecture reviews, and end-to-end delivery of key initiatives. This role requires a blend of technical acumen, project execution, and strategic leadership , ensuring data integrity, scalability, and alignment with business objectives.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for data mapping, data analysis, architecture reviews, and managing cross-functional teams to drive efficient data pipelines, ETL processes, and integration strategies . This role requires someone who can bridge the gap between business requirements and technical execution while ensuring seamless project planning and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning, Execution & Delivery

  • Develop comprehensive project roadmaps for PBM data initiatives, aligning technical execution with business goals .
  • Define project scope, timelines, key milestones, and success metrics , ensuring structured execution.
  • Oversee end-to-end project delivery , ensuring all components, from data ingestion to reporting, are completed on time.
  • Track project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies for successful execution.

2. Data Mapping & Data Analysis

  • Lead data mapping exercises to ensure accurate transformation and standardization of PBM datasets.
  • Analyze large-scale healthcare data , identifying trends, inconsistencies, and optimization opportunities.
  • Work closely with business analysts, data engineers, and product teams to validate data integrity.
  • Ensure data compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and industry data governance standards .

3. Technical Oversight & Architecture Reviews

  • Conduct technical design and architecture reviews for data solutions, ensuring scalability and efficiency .
  • Guide teams on data modeling, ETL design, and system integrations , ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Optimize data pipelines and workflows , leveraging cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) where applicable.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system performance, reliability, and data accuracy .

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the liaison between business, data engineering, and product teams , ensuring technical and business alignment.
  • Partner with data scientists, analysts, and developers to drive innovation in PBM data analytics and reporting .
  • Ensure seamless integration between PBM systems, claims processing platforms, and external data sources .
  • Work closely with compliance teams to ensure data security and regulatory adherence .

5. Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify potential project risks related to data integrity, security, and scalability , implementing proactive solutions .
  • Ensure technical roadblocks are addressed efficiently, preventing project delays.
  • Escalate critical issues with recommended solutions to leadership when necessary.

6. Process Improvement & Best Practices

  • Continuously evaluate and refine data workflows, architecture, and execution strategies .
  • Establish best practices for data quality management, governance, and reporting .
  • Promote automation and process efficiency to reduce manual interventions in data pipelines.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field .
  • 7+ years of experience in technical project management, data strategy, or engineering leadership roles within healthcare or PBM domains .
  • Proven track record in data architecture, data mapping, and analytics-driven project execution .
  • Experience with PBM workflows, claims processing, eligibility data, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, CMS, FHIR, HL7, NCPDP) .

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in data mapping, transformation, and integration for PBM data.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, or Spark for data analysis.
  • Understanding of data warehouse and cloud platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Databricks) .
  • Experience with ETL frameworks, data pipelines, and workflow automation .
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) .
  • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, X12 EDI, NCPDP) .

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an ability to interpret complex data landscapes .
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders .
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive technical execution while managing business expectations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving healthcare environment .

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI/ML-driven data analytics in healthcare.
  • Certification in Cloud Data Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or Agile methodologies .
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or SAFe methodologies for project management.
