Job Information: Entry-Level Deputy Sheriff - Yamhill County Sheriff's Office
The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) is actively recruiting to create a pool of diverse candidates for current and future full-time entry-level Deputy Sheriff vacancies in both the Corrections (Jail) Division and Enforcement (Patrol) Division. This recruitment also includes Reserve Deputy candidates.

YCSO will pull scores from testing on 10/08/2024, and the following must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. on that date:
Entry-level candidates: Submit your written/video test scores.
Oregon Physical Ability Test (ORPAT): Provide scores from the past 12 months (6:20 or under with a pass on the Dummy Drag). ORPAT scores can be submitted through testing agencies or uploaded with your application.

Department Overview: YCSO serves nearly 109,000 residents across 718 square miles, covering suburban, rural, timberland, and waterway areas. In addition to providing 24-hour patrol, the office manages a 255-bed corrections facility and oversees several cities contracted for law enforcement services. Specialized units include the Major Crimes Response Team, Marine Patrol, Rural/Woods Patrol, and Special Investigation Unit.
Salary Information:
$5,901 - $8,224 per month, depending on experience and position.
Incentive pay available for education, certification, and bilingual abilities.

Job Requirements:
Age: Must be 21 years old.
Citizenship: U.S. citizen or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Driver's License: Valid state-issued driver's license with ability to obtain an Oregon license.
Vision: Must meet Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) requirements.
Academy Certification: Must be able to be certified by DPSST within the timeline set by Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR).
Hiring Process: Candidates must pass written, physical, oral, medical, psychological exams, and background checks.
Specific Disqualifiers:
Felony/Criminal: Domestic violence, felony, or certain misdemeanor convictions.
Driving: Multiple moving violations.
Drug Use: Involvement in illegal manufacture, transport, sale of controlled substances, or repetitive drug use.
Employment: Discharge for poor performance or military discharges other than honorable will be reviewed.
