Job Title: Custodian Job Locations: Community Service Board 7447 Central Business Park, Norfolk, VA 23513 Schedule: Varied Schedule: Shifts 7:30am-4:00pm or 12:30pm-9:00pm Pay Rate: $19.56/hourly.   Overview: The Custodian of a homeless shelter is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.   Job Duties: • Clean and disinfect common areas, sleeping quarters, kitchens, and offices. Clean and disinfect restroom’s, shower stalls, and day rooms. Replenish paper products, soaps, and other supplies. Wash windows, walls, windowsills, mirrors and doors. • Dispose of Trash and recyclables following established protocols. • Maintain exterior of facility by cleaning and sweeping outdoor common areas, walkways, and grounds, picking up trash and debris. • Report significant maintenance issues or safety hazards to the program administrator. • Maintain compliance with local health and sanitation codes. • Track Supplies and notifying supervisors as supplies are running low. • Back up support with special assignments such as moving furniture, unloading supplies, running errands, maintain inventory. • Emergency weather operations by assisting with pre and post storm treatment for ice, snow, and storm debris. • Work collaboratively with shelter staff to address resident needs and maintain the facility functionality. • Respond promptly to emergency cleaning requests. • Work independently with minimal supervision • Demonstrate professional phone and office etiquette • Manage and prioritize multiple tasks • Demonstrate effective communication and listening skills.   Education/Experience: • High School diploma or GED.   Requirements: • Must have a valid Driver’s License. • Ability to obtain clean driving record by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
